The Detention Operations is to receive, process and detain people that have been taken into custody by various law enforcement agencies. When a person has been turned over to the detention center, they are given an opportunity to post bond. If bonded out the detainee will be released pending a court hearing. If detainee can not make bond, they will be detained until the court makes a decision concerning their case. Detainees who have been convicted and sentenced will be detained until their sentence is served in accordance to the law or transferred to a state facility. Dodge County has a New, state of the art, facility that will house upwards 150 plus detainees. This facility has been erected to insure the safety of the public, staff and detainees of Dodge County.

Visitation

Visitation is held on Wednesdays and Saturdays

Visitation hours are Wednesdays 5:00pm – 5:30pm and Saturday's 10:00am – 10:30am, weather permitting and maybe canceled without prior notice.

Scheduled Visitation Detainees are limited to 5 approved visitors and must be immediate family members (parents, brother, sister, spouse, grandparents, grandchildren and children) or a significant other. Special circumstances may apply. Potential visitors must submit an application to be considered for approval. Reasons for disapproval shall be provided upon written request Visitation forms must be legible, date and completed in order to be accepted. This form may be updated every SIX (6) months. Written requests may be submitted to change this form.

Unscheduled Visitation

Visitation outside of visitation hours is strictly prohibited. Exceptions to this policy include but are not limited to serious verifiable family emergencies or appointments with an attorney or bondsmen. With the exception of extreme limited circumstances, all unscheduled visits must be approved in advance and monitored by a staff member. An exception may be visitation with an attorney in which detainees are subject to searches prior and after such visits.

The use of mobile devices such as PDA's and Cell Phones are strictly prohibited in the visitation area. The use of any recording device is also strictly prohibited in the visitation area.

All Visitors, Male or Females wearing the following clothing will not be allowed In the visitation area:

  • Tank tops (showing the stomach area).
  • Shorts or Dresses (above the Knee).
  • Low cut shirts (showing the chest area).
  • Low rider pants of any kind (showing underwear).
  • See through clothing of any kind is not allowed.
  • No one under the age of 17 may visit a detainee unless accompanied by an adult.

Visitors may be required to identify themselves and are subject to search under O.C.G.A. 42 – 5 – 15.

O.C.G.A. 42 – 5 – 15 provides that it shall be unlawful for any person to come inside the guard line with a gun, pistol, or any other weapon or with or under the influence of any intoxicating liquor, amphetamines, biphetamines, or any other hallucinogenic or other drugs, without the knowledge or consent of the warden, superintendent, or his designated representative. Conviction of this crime is punishable by imprisonment of not less than one year and not more than four years. Any person or motorized vehicle entering beyond this point is subject to being searched including a search by drug dogs.
