In accordance with O.C.G.A. § 42-1-12, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is the central repository for Georgia's Violent Sexual Offender Registry. This registry holds information pertaining to sex offenders who have been released from prison, placed on probation, parole, or supervised release after July 1, 1996.
According to the provisions of O.C.G.A. § 42-1-12, an offender will be notified by the Department of Corrections, the Georgia Board of Pardons & Paroles, and/or Private Probation Agencies that he/she must register as a sex offender with the Sheriff or Sheriffs office at their county of residence, county of employment and county where attending school.
O.C.G.A. 42-1-12 (i)(3) states "the Georgia Bureau of Investigation or any sheriff maintaining records required under this code section shall release relevant information collected under this code section that is necessary to protect the public." However, due to the fact this information is continually changing, the Dodge County Sheriff's Office makes no expressed or implied guarantee concerning the accuracy of this information.
